QARK SOFTWARE – Scans several security related Android application vulnerabilities

QARK SOFTWARE – Scans several security related Android application vulnerabilities

QARK SOFTWARE – Scans several security related Android application vulnerabilities

QARK also knows as Quick Android Review Kit used to scan several security related Android application vulnerabilities, either in source code or packaged APKs.
This tool can create “Proof-of-Concept” deployable APKs and ADB commands, capable of exploiting many of the vulnerabilities it finds.
You don’t need to root the test device, as this tool focuses on vulnerabilities that can be exploited under otherwise secure conditions.

Requirements:

  • Python 2.7.6
  • JRE 1.6+ (recommended 1.7+)
  • OSX or Ubuntu Linux (others may or may not work)

How to use:

Download QARK and to run in interactive mode:

  • python qark.py
  • To run in headless mode:
  • python qark.py --source 1 --pathtoapk /Users/foo/qark/sampleApps/goatdroid/goatdroid.apk --exploit 1 --install 1
  • or python qark.py --source 2 -c /Users/foo/qark/sampleApps/goatdroid/goatdroid --manifest /Users/foo/qark/sampleApps/goatdroid/goatdroid/AndroidManifest.xml --exploit 1 --install 1

Documentation:

QARK is an easy to use tool capable of finding common security vulnerabilities in Android applications and 100% free to use. QARK allows security reviewers to locate precise, in-depth explanations of the vulnerabilities. QARK automates the use of multiple de-compilers, leveraging their combined outputs, to produce superior results, when de-compiling APKs.
The major advantage QARK has over traditional tools, that just point you to possible vulnerabilities, is that it can produce ADB commands, or even fully functional APKs, that turn hypothetical vulnerabilities into working “POC” exploits.
Included in the types of security vulnerabilities this tool attempts to find are:
  • Inadvertently exported components
  • Improperly protected exported components
  • Intents which are vulnerable to interception or eavesdropping
  • Improper x.509 certificate validation
  • Creation of world-readable or world-writeable files
  • Activities which may leak data
  • The use of Sticky Intents
  • Insecurely created Pending Intents
  • Sending of insecure Broadcast Intents
  • Private keys embedded in the source
  • Weak or improper cryptography use
  • Potentially exploitable WebView configurations
  • Exported Preference Activities
  • Tapjacking
  • Apps which enable backups
  • Apps which are debuggable
  • Apps supporting outdated API versions, with known vulnerabilities

Roadmap:

Things that will be added soon:
  • Rewrite of code to support extensibility
  • Bound Service vulnerability detection and exploitation
  • Content Provider vulnerability detection and exploitation
  • Additional WebView configuration demonstrations
  • Static Tapjacking mitigation detection
  • File browser capable of using root permissions
Note: QARK decompiles Android applications back to raw source code. Please do not use this tool if this may be considered illegal in your juristdiction. If you are unsure, seek legal counsel.
If you run into issues on OSX, especially relating to the outbound call to the Play Store, or the downloading of the SDK, it is likely due to your Python/OpenSSL configuration and the fact that recent changes in OSX impacted Python installed via brew. Nuking your Python installation(s) and re-installing from source may fix your issues.

For more information about QARK you can visit GitHub and download this tool from official page

Internet Protection You Can Count On: Five Password Tips To Keep You Safe

Internet Protection You Can Count On: Five Password Tips To Keep You Safe

Heartbleed, Gotofail, Sony’s expansive Playstation Network, even the NSA—every few weeks a new story seems to be circulating in the media about the next big security breach. With so much of your life making its home in your devices, it’s really hard to feel safe. The truth is, these breaches do happen. Period. But that doesn’t mean they’re unavoidable. And one of the best ways to keep yourself protected lies right at your fingertips.
Our passwords are perhaps the easiest way to ensure our safety online and yet, many of us (myself included—at least in the past), have taken them for granted. We go simple, we go easy to remember, and it’s making us incredibly vulnerable to cyber attacks.
By following a few simple tips and tricks, you can avoid a data breach in your own life and ensure that your most precious data stays just that—yours.

Update Your Browser and Other Devices
It seems really simple but keeping your browser up to date is actually one of the best ways to keep you and your data protected. Old browsers are less stable and are highly vulnerable to spyware, viruses, malware and many other security issues. Updates are capable of patching newly discovered security problems and keeping your password out of the wrong hands.
Make Use of Two-Factor Authentication
Two-factor authentication is a sure-fire way to ensure your online safety. With it, in addition to your typical password protection, users have to provide a one-time code at the time of login. This code is usually sent to your mobile phone in the form of a text message. Once you have entered your password, the login service will prompt you to enter the one time authentication code. This process adds a second, secure layer of protection to the standard username and password login process and is truly a practical approach to doubling up your Internet safety.

Use HTTPS
When looking for the most protected version, hypertext transfer protocol or HTTPS is the best is the business. This appears as the series of letters before the ‘www.’ in the web address. Webpages with https in the URL tend to be more secure so try to use it whenever possible as it works to bi-directionally encrypt details sent between you and the server of a website. Most importantly, encryption with https is more apt to offer benefits such as webpage integrity and confidentiality. By using this, your information is better safeguarded against any prying eyes as only the server and your browser alone can decrypt the traffic.

Use a Password Manager
Fairly new technologies, Password Managers are a great way to protect yourself against security breaches while doing only half the work. While you should make use of strong passwords, rotate your passwords periodically, and always use different passwords for different accounts, none of these techniques safeguard against human fallibility. With so many different accounts and all of the passwords that come with them, it is very easy to forget what goes where. A Password Manager works to keep your passwords in a secure place, hidden behind the most secure password you can think of—preferably something that contains a selection of random letters, numbers, and symbols. By using a Password Manger, you cut down the passwords you need to remember to one, while still ensuring that each account you use has a unique password.

Which brings us to…?

Create Unique Passwords
Every account, every time—you always need a different password. Password reuse is your number one enemy. So, remember to create a distinct and unique password for each site you visit and use. Ditch all those standard words you’re used to using and never use any key dates, names, or characteristics about yourself. For instance, ilikedogs69 probably isn’t going to cut it. If you must use a common word (and hey, we get it—sometimes there’s just no other way to remember), try skipping letters—haveheart1212 could become havheart1212. By skipping letters, you instantly reduce the ease of guesswork for your assailant. Write backwards, vary between upper and lowercase letters, and always include several numbers and characters. Remember—the longer, the better.

So, there you have it—five easy steps to securing your password.
It’s your safety, right at your fingertips.

Whatsapp Tips: How to Delete Photos from Whatsapp Group, Erase Media, Images, Videos, Pictures on Android, iPhone

Whatsapp Tips: How to Delete Photos from Whatsapp Group, Erase Media, Images, Videos, Pictures on Android, iPhone

Before I come to the solution of this, let me inform you that I myself was trying to update iOS version on my iPhone 5s and could not update it due to no free space on my 16 GB iPhone :(

When I checked where my 16 GB utilized, I found major share from Photos in my gallery and Whatsapp media. I immediately tried to find how come Whatsapp has used more than 5 GB? And found, there are few Whatsapp group where I have more than 2000 medias!!

Delete Photos From Whatsapp Group

First question came in my mind was, How I can Delete Photos from Whatsapp group which is taking huge space of my Phone’s memory? I thought for a while and found 2 options as per below, which will help you to delete all images or media from your Whatsapp group if you are using iPhone and Android based mobile. This may also help you to understand how you can apply similar solution for your Java, Windows, Nokia or Blackberry too.
Option 1: Delete Photos From Whatsapp Group at Once

Yes, you can do this!! Let me teach you how?

Best way is, you can click “Clear Conversation” from group options which will clear full conversation, but still you may follow lengthy way as described below if you wants :(
  • Contact Whatsapp Group Admin that you are leaving group as you would like to erase all group medias which is taking huge space on your iPhone or Android mobile phone. So request him to Add you back immediately after you leave the group
  • Before leaving the group, send Whatsapp conversation in email. which will send you all medias in your email for backup purpose
  • Leave/Delete and Exit whatsapp group

Delete whatsapp group

That’s it. All the photos, images, videos was saved on your phone because of this group is deleted and you will have free space.

Even though, this method is fastest and best to Delete photos from whatsapp; there are few problems like below
  •     If admin of the group will not add you back :p
  •     If you are the Admin of the group, you may lose your role :)
  •     In case, you would like few of the medias out of all.
If you think above points is important and you don’t want to take a chance by deleting all photos from whatsapp group at once, you may use 2nd method as described below.
Also Check: Download Whatsapp Messenger for PC
Option 2: Delete Photos from Whatsapp Group one by one

Well, I know this method is boring specially when you have hundreds or thousands of media pictures and videos stored by your whatsapp group. But if option 1 is not suitable, you have only this option.

Well, even with this option, you may go inside “All media” section of the group and select all photos/videos you would like to delete and click “Delete” icon to delete all of them. But still you need to spend time behind selecting those thousands medias. :(

Anyways, I hope these 2 options will be useful for you and will surely help you to know How to Delete Photos from Whatsapp group and remove medias, pictures, images, videos from Whatsapp group to release free space for your mobile’s internal memory.

How to Watch Security Cameras on the Internet

How to Watch Security Cameras on the Internet

Camera hacking is not very new for hacker community . Due to mis-configuration in the Camera security , the cameras that can be accessed over the internet can be viewed by anyone without any Authentication . Though there is no real hacking in this but its somewhat nice to explore .
I would use this to explain the necessity of security configuration for IP cams . The Cams that have been used to provide the security , are now accessible to anyone without any authentication , and have become the biggest security Loophole.
The hacking tutorial section is now full of useless threads,The worst of all most of them are questions and other shits.
So yeah here i am writing a new tutorial trying to make this section back to what it used to be.
====================
Pro Tip :
Secure yourself before doing this.
This is Purely for Educational Purposes and Dangerous . Don’t Access Password Protected Cameras

TECHNOLOGY: Bluetooth Devices Can be Tracked Directly over The Internet Soon

Bluetooth Devices Can be Tracked Directly over The Internet Soon
We all have gadgets having Bluetooth based sensors but we are not able to connect it directly to the Internet. Almost all devices have Bluetooth connectivity like basic mobiles and smartphones, however they need another device in order to link these devices to the Internet. In other words we can say, you must be also present there while carrying some processes.

Bluetooth Devices Can be Tracked Directly over The Internet Soon
They primarily require an intermediary device to gain Internet access in order to control it from our home. The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) has launched an architecture  which provides Bluetooth devices direct access to the Internet. Earlier, you required an intermediary device in order to allow connection to the web but Bluetooth SIG made it possible for a connection to the cloud.

Although it will take some time for smartphone manufacturers to enable these features in the devices. Bluetooth Special Interest Group announced that, you will be soon able to connect to an internet gateway without requiring your gadget or smartphones. It further said that all upcoming versions of its connection will permit any Bluetooth Sensor to transmit data to the cloud and back again.

This Special feature will allow users to monitor and control fixed Bluetooth Sensors from a distant place.

Google, Movidius to Bring Deep Learning to Mobile Devices

Google, Movidius to Bring Deep Learning to Mobile Devices

google-movidius-machine-learning-mobile-neural-network
Movidius on Wednesday announced that it's working with Google to put deep learning on mobile devices.
Google will source Movidius' latest flagship chip -- the MA2450 -- and software development environment, and will contribute to Movidius' neural network technology road map in return.
That could result in smartphones and other mobile devices that will be able to understand images and audio swiftly and accurately.

The Movidius Technology

The MA2450 is the most powerful iteration of Movidius' Myriad 2 vision processor unit, which the company said is the only commercial solution available to perform complex neural network computations.
The Myriad 2 is the first always-on vision processor, Movidius said.
It has a programmable architecture and comes with the Myriad Development Kit, or MDK, which includes a software development framework. That lets developers incorporate proprietary functions and build arbitrary processing pipelines while leveraging the vision, imaging, and linear algebra software libraries and reference vision processing pipeline examples Movidius provides, all as source code.
The MDK includes all necessary programming and debugging tools.
Movidius's Myriad VPU processor powers Google's Project Tango.
"We can expect to see run-time deep neural networks for speech-to-text, vision and many other smart machine applications running in phones, cameras, automobiles, medical devices and others because the DNN models can be downloaded and run disconnected from the cloud,"Gartner Fellow Tom Austin said.
"Remember that working with Google on a project doesn't necessarily translate into products," cautioned Jim McGregor, principal analyst at Tirias Research. "However, this has the potential for almost any device and extends well beyond just facial recognition; this is machine learning."
Facial recognition and retinal scans the technology enables "could significantly increase the level of security over fingerprints and even help identify people," he told TechNewsWorld.
Facial recognition could be used in two-factor authentication, and Google could bake it into Android as it did with fingerprint IDs, suggested Wayne Lam, a principal analyst at IHS Technology.
Google also could apply the technology to home security platforms, he told TechNewsWorld. "Think Nest and other IoT uses."

Potential Uses for the Technology

Banks will begin using smart machines widely, and a report Gartner's Austin co-authored suggests most banks will invest in six main types of smart machines during the next few years.
The smart machines resulting from Google's team-up with Movidius could make wireless banking more secure, he told TechNewsWorld.
Other possible uses include authenticating users or admins signing in remotely to an enterprise network, and tracking and authenticating users for security purposes and for provisioning or deprovisioning as needed.
"Facial recognition and retinal scans are much more secure and user-friendly than any of the more common security solutions," Tirias Research's McGregor said. "This could allow users to log in and begin using platforms in a secure manner effortlessly."
The technology also could be used in wearables and industrial applications in the medical and industrial automation fields, where the Internet of Things might come into play, he suggested.

A New Trend Emerges

"This capability is not limited to the Movidius solution," McGregor pointed out. "Qualcomm is doing it in conjunction with its image signal processor, and this could be done within most SoCs by leveraging the ISP, DSP, GPU, VPU and CPU resources."
Microsoft, Apple "and a whole range of social sites like Facebook, ... Amazon, Baidu, IBM and a few thousand other firms" might follow suit, Gartner's Austin suggested.
As global smartphone sales slow, noted IHS's Lam, "we'll see more and more efforts to create differentiated value for platforms such as Android and iOS just to keep up with the furious pace of competition and innovations.
