News Update: Be Careful of the new botnet that can hack your facebook account

News Update: Be Careful of the new botnet that can hack your facebook account

These are the queries that most of the Internet users search on Google.
But Beware! If you come across any Facebook hacking tool that promises you to help you hack your friends Facebook accounts, you may end up downloading a hacking tool that could hack you, instead of them.

Facebook  Hacking Tool that Can Really Hack, But Your Accounts

Facebook Hacking Tool
Dubbed Remtasu, the tool is marketing itself as a Facebook hacking tool but actually is a Windows-based Trojan that has accelerated globally over the past year, and has now capability to disguise itself as an app for accessing people's Facebook account credentials.
The tool contains a Keylogger that can capture all your keystrokes and store them in a file that is subsequently sent to the attacker's server.
The malicious Facebook hacking tool is exploiting "the constant desire of a lot of users to take control of accounts from this well-known social network," according to a Monday blog post by IT security company ESET.

How Remtasu Works:

The malicious tool is delivered via direct download websites.

Once a user visits one of these websites, the dangerous Win32/Remtasu.Y malware automatically gets downloaded and executed on victim's machine and hide itself among other files.
Remtasu has capability to:
  • Open and obtain information from the clipboard.
  • Capture keystrokes.
  • Store all the data in a file which is subsequently sent to an FTP server.

The worst part is yet to come:

The malware remains on the infected computer even when the victim reboots their system or attempts to find the malware threat in the list of active processes.
"In this case, the malware replicates itself, saving the copy in a folder that it also creates within the system32 folder," reads the post. "The new InstallDir folder remains hidden inside the system files, making it difficult for users to access."
Most affected parts of the world include Colombia, Turkey, Thailand and elsewhere. In past, Remtasu was distributed through malicious files attached to phishing emails purporting to be from legitimate government or businesses organisations.

Latest WhatsApp build reveals Facebook linking option

Facebook purchased WhatsApp for $19 Billion in year 2014. It has not changed much in its features, apart Voice Calling Features between Whats App users. It seems that Facebook and Whats App have been acting as two different bodies.
According to new leak, WhatsApp is looking forward to allow cross communication between WhatsApp and facebook accounts.
Just a week after WhatsApp proclaimed that it is not charging $1 as annual fee, and it further said that they are seeking to see new information that points to a convenient relationship between messaging service “WhatsApp” and its parental company, Facebook.
A German based blog leaked screenshots of a new beta build, which adds a new option for WhatsApp users to share their account details with Facebook to improve facebook user experience. It is still doubtful that how this integration will benefit facebook user. The users will have to agree some new service terms in the new build.
Facebook and WhatsApp worked like two different companies, even after facebook acquired this for $19 Billion in 2014. WhatsApp’s founder Jan Koum said that, WhatsApp Messaging Service will remain unchanged and will operate independently and user’s will not be affected. However, it seems that Facebook is entirely changing the statement as said by Whats’s App’s founder.
WhatsApp is popularly know for end to end encryption that safeguards users from being snooped on. The latest beta feature of WhatsApp is enabled with security tab which allows users switch on a setting to see whether their messages are encrypted. By default, messages are encrypted, depending upon what you select, but it provides user a new option which enables the user to see whether their messages are really safe.

Head to App settings > Notification settings and you'll be able to enable or disable alerts for wall posts, messages, comments, friend requests, photo tags, event invites and more.

3. Find interesting places nearby

The Facebook app for Android can do certain tricks that the desktop site can't — such as making better use of your location. Choose Nearby Places to find places around you that have their own Facebook Page.
It's a handy way to discover restaurants, bars, shops or other venues if you're in an unfamiliar part of the world. Tap on any entry for more information about that place.

4. Filter the news feed

You don't have to settle for the standard news feed list of updates. The Facebook app gives you access to your customized lists from the main menu too. To change the list someone appears in, simply head to their profile and tap Friends > Edit Friend List.
If you want to add or remove any whole lists ('family' or 'best friends', for example), you'll need to do this from a computer.

5. Share from other apps

Sharing across apps is one of Android's great strengths, so make use of it: tap the Share button while you're viewing a photo gallery, web browser or anything else, and Facebook will appear as one of the options.
This is a great way of sharing something to your timeline without having to actually go into Facebook, and you still get all the usual status update options.

6. Stop videos from autoplaying

One of the most useful entries in the Facebook app settings is Video Auto-play. It lets you turn autoplay on or off, or enable it when you're on a Wi-Fi connection only.
This will save on data usage while you're out and about, as well as stop your news feed turning into a dizzying list of looping cat clips and funny animations.

7. Save videos and links for later

So many friends to browse through, so little time in the day... luckily there's a solution to this problem. If you tap on the drop-down arrow next to a news feed post containing a video or link, you can save the content to come back to later.
Bookmarked content is kept under the Saved heading on the main app menu (tap See All under Apps if it isn't visible) so you can return to it at your leisure.

8. Check your account security

From inside the Facebook app, tap Account Settings, Security and Active Sessions — here you can see all of the places and devices associated with your Facebook account.
If you spot anything suspicious, click on the cross icon to log out from it. It's better to be safe than sorry: if you make a mistake and log out from one of your own devices or browsers, you can still log back in again.

9. Disable chat heads

Messenger is now a separate app on Android, and one of its most distinctive features is the way conversations appear as 'chat heads' above other apps on your device.
If you don't like this behavior, you can turn it off — tap the cog icon inside the Messenger app to access its settings, then tap Chat heads to enable or disable the feature and tweak the way it works.

10. Pick your favorite friends

Your list of online friends is accessible via a tap on the portrait icon in the top-right corner of the Facebook app.
Select Edit and you can bring the contacts you interact with most often to the top of the list, saving you the time and effort of hunting through the list to find your favorite friends.

11. Hide a friend's feed

Sometimes you may wish to stop seeing someone's updates without actually unfriending them or blocking them. You may wish to keep up the pretense that you are friends despite never wishing to see or hear from them again.
To do this, go to their page, tap on Following, then select Unfollow. They won't know it, but you'll never see their posts, or posts they are tagged in again.

12. Prioritize a friend's feed

If you want to do the opposite of above, you can choose to see a certain friend's posts before all others. Simply go to their page, tap Following, and then See First.
Any posts that this friend makes will jump to the top of the news feed so that you never miss them.

13. Use a lighter, third-party app

The Facebook app is not only enormous, but it is also a resource hog. You can save space and memory by using an alternative app, such as Metal or Tinfoil, which are basically custom skins for the web version of Facebook. Metal is a bit prettier and offers more features, such as a notification tab, and floating window.
Otherwise, you can just add a shortcut to the Facebook website on your home screen and use that. In Chrome, you can also allow notifications from the site by heading to Settings > Site settings > Notifications and making sure they're turned on and unblocked for Facebook.

Facebook on Thursday announced its new Sports Stadium -- built with no taxpayer dollars or city leases required.
About 650 million sports fans already make Facebook the world's largest stadium, the company reasoned.
The new hub will compile and chronologize game-related content in real time so that "you can get the feeling you're watching the game with your friends even when you aren't together," said Steve Kafka, a product manager at Facebook.
The hub itself is organized by tabs labeled "Matchup," "Friends," "Experts" and "Stats."

Matchup offers an overview of the action, highlighting the latest big plays and fan reactions to go with them. Novel here is the ability to share plays from the hub to a timeline.
Remarks from paid and unpaid experts are funneled into either the Friends or Experts categories. The Experts tab is reserved for individuals discussing the game from verified accounts -- people such as sports analysts, journalists and chatty celebrities.
As for the Stats tab, it's dedicated to the facts and statistics related to a given game.
The Facebook Sports Hub is available via iOS, but it isn't a standalone app. It's a feature that lives inside the core Facebook app, and it will be available on other platforms in the coming weeks, according to Facebook.
While starting with U.S. football, Facebook plans to add other sports soon.
With just two more NFL games left before its season finale, Facebook Sports Stadium has arrived at a good time to interest people in trying out the new hub, suggested Justin Garrity, President of Postano.
"The Super Bowl is one of the most watched global sporting events, so it will be a great first introduction for Sports Stadium to a huge audience that will hopefully use it again watching their local sports teams," he told TechNewsWorld.
While the timing may help with adoption, Facebook will have to battle user behavior to get people to break away from what they relied on before Sports Stadium was a thing, said Ben Hordell, a partner at DXagency.
"That being said, I think the stadium will be visited by those who are already on Facebook while watching the game," he told TechNewsWorld. "Facebook has been integrating an 'I'm watching' feature based on your tastes, to start the process leading up to the stadium reveal."
For the most part, social networks have been timid in plunging into sports, because leagues tend to try to control their online media, observed Andy Abramson, CEO of Comunicano.
Facebook Sports Stadium takes on a news role and avoids royalties, while the voice of the fans get stronger and more compelling, he told TechNewsWorld.
"The ease with which content can be put onto the Facebook platform, the speed with which fans and journalists alike can publish and share in an era of declining metropolitan media, and the rise of social media and influencer led journalism, means sports properties have to view influencers and what they are covering with a much wider view of the impact a local blogger could have on team, league or event news," Abramson explained.
Twitter stepped up its sports presence in 2014, when it launched the NFL on Twitter. The ongoing campaign has brought fans unique insights into the NFL, but it now faces serious competition on another front.
"I think Facebook's gain will be Twitter's loss," said Hordell, "as Facebook steals some [share of voice] in being the preferred social second screen to accompany live sports viewing

Social networking website Facebook is testing an improved in-app browser that would allow users input their own URL should they want to check another page without leaving the Facebook app, a media report said.
Besides the aesthetic shift, a new bar on the bottom tells you how popular a post is, includes back and forward buttons, lets you bookmark pages, and has a menu button which likely includes a few more features too, thenextweb.com reported on Sunday.
The only big feature that appears to be missing is tab support, but the new browser is quite close to approximating a full-fledged app. With a good enough browser, the Facebook app could essentially become a self-contained ecosystem of its own, it added.
The browser is only available to a small subset of users (iOS only), but most public test features end up receiving a wider roll-out a few months later.

After vote, Facebook moves to update privacy settings

After vote, Facebook moves to update privacy settings

Despite Facebook users losing out on a privacy policy vote earlier this week, the social network moved today to make its privacy tools easier for users to take advantage of.
Facebook updated its privacy settings, adding shortcuts, an activity log and a new Request and Removal tool for photos users are tagged in. The tools, according to one analyst, are aimed at making privacy easier for users to navigate.
"It sounds like despite the vote and user apathy, Facebook is trying to make some changes that will benefit users," said Dan Olds, an analyst with The Gabriel Consulting Group. "These all seem like steps in the right direction.... Giving users more visibility into what they're sharing and with whom is very welcome. Plus giving them more control over what is visible is a benefit, as well."
Samuel Lessin, a product manager at Facebook, said in a blog post today that the site wants to help users understand who can see the information, photos and videos they're sharing.
"Up until now, if you wanted to change your privacy and timeline controls on Facebook, you would need to stop what you're doing and navigate through a separate set of pages," wrote Lessin. "Today we're announcing new shortcuts you can easily get to."
For instance, if users now want to get to their key privacy settings, they can simply go to the toolbar to manage "Who can see my stuff?," "Who can contact me?" or "How do I stop someone from bothering me?"
The new privacy changes also include new notices that help people know where their information appears. Lessin pointed out that Facebook is adding pop-up messages to notify users that even though they may have hidden something in their timelines, it may still appear in a news feed or search.
Facebook also has updated its Activity Log, which was first introduced last year. The new log has better navigation, designed to make it easier for users to review the history of their photos, posts, likes and comments.
The changes to Facebook's privacy settings follow on the heels of Facebook users' last vote on potential policy changes. The vote ended on Dec. 10.
While user sentiment was overwhelmingly against the social network making any changes to its standing policy, there were far from enough ballots cast to make it an official result.
Simply put, Facebook rules say that 30% of all active registered users must vote to make a decision binding. That means 300 million users would have had to vote on privacy changes; less than 700,000 users did so.
Olds, though, pointed out that users can always vote with their feet. If they don't like what Facebook is doing with their information, they can move to another social network.
"The voting issue is and was largely irrelevant," he said. "Like any other business, Facebook is going to respond to what they think is important to their customer base. Privacy is important to users, even if they don't participate in a formal online vote."
Olds added that Facebook is responding to this last vote by making its privacy policy more understandable and usable.
"This should allay the fears of users who believed that once the privacy policy voting went away, Facebook would do whatever they wanted without any concern for users," he said. "I don't think the voting has had any relevance to Facebook privacy decisions for a few years now."
