While most of the things about iPhone are pretty amazing, there is one area where the device doesn’t do well and that is its battery life. In terms of standby time the battery works fine but sometimes there are situations where battery drains pretty quickly. And even with the release of the recent updates people are still facing battery drain issues. Waiting for next update can take a while so here are some of the things that will help you out to increase your iPhone battery life.
Disable Unnecessary Notifications
Too many notifications can cause your iPhone battery to drain significantly. Disabling as many notifications as possible will enhance your device’s standby time. Previously you could disable all notification with global notification toggle in the Setting menu but with the release of iOS 6.1 you now have android like pull down notification bar and cannot disable all notifications instantly.
To disable notifications go to Settings > Notifications then to go desired category or app and toggle the Notification center to Off.
Set Location Service to Off
Another way to preserve your iPhone battery life is by disabling all Location Services. You can do that by simply going to the Settings then Privacy and then to Location Services. On the right side of Location Services you will see On/Off slider, tap to set it to Off.
Manual Email Checking
You can also increase your iPhone battery life by setting emails and other updates to “manually”. Apart from emails, you can also do the same to Facebook and Twitter, if the application is continuously refreshing after every 15 or 30 minutes in the background it’s going to consume a lot of battery. Go to Settings then Contacts, Mail, Calenders and then to Fetch New Data, set the Push to Off and Fetch to Manually.
Look for Software Updates.
Check for the latest iOS updates, they fix many bugs including the battery issues. You can look OS updates by going to the Settings > General > Software Update instead of synching your device with iTunes.
Other Power Saving Methods
Other ways to increase your iPhone battery life is by reducing the brightness, disabling Wi-Fi or Bluetooth when not using. I would recommend reducing the brightness as it saves the most.
